Catholic Life and Mission

At our school, being Catholic is at the heart of everything we do. This means we focus on loving God and loving others, just like Jesus taught us. We learn about our faith in fun and meaningful ways, like through prayer, school Masses, and helping others in our community.

Every day, we start and end with prayer. We celebrate important times in the Church year, like Christmas and Easter, with special events and assemblies. We also come together for Mass and other moments of worship where everyone is welcome to join.

Our school believes in showing kindness and care for everyone, no matter their background. We learn about Catholic Social Teaching, which helps us understand how to make the world a fairer place. This could mean caring for the planet, helping those in need, or supporting charities through projects like food drives and fundraisers.

Our teachers and leaders help us grow in faith and character. They guide us to be the best we can be, not just in lessons but in how we treat each other. There are also chaplaincy opportunities where we can join in prayer groups, plan liturgies, or take part in retreats to deepen our spiritual journey.

We believe everyone is unique and made in the image of God, which is why we celebrate the gifts and talents of every student. Whether it’s through music, art, or helping others, there’s always a way to contribute to our school’s Catholic mission.

Together, we’re building a loving and supportive school community where faith and learning go hand in hand. Our Catholic Life helps us to grow closer to God, care for each other, and prepare for the future with faith, hope, and love.

🔥✨ MISSION DAY at St Alban’s ✨🔥
Today, we celebrated Pentecost – the birthday of the Church – with a full day of prayer, creativity and mission!

From dramatic re-enactments of the Holy Spirit’s arrival to beautiful flame crafts and heartfelt prayers, pupils from EYFS to Year 6 explored how the Holy Spirit moves in our lives today. We learnt about the seven gifts of the Spirit, reflected on the symbols of wind and fire, and shared our own promises to spread God’s love in our school and community.

🕊️ "They were all filled with the Holy Spirit..." (Acts 2)

📿 In Loving Memory of Pope Francis

Today, we join the Catholic community around the world in mourning the passing of our beloved Holy Father, Pope Francis.

Bishop Patrick McKinney shared these heartfelt words:
“I am deeply saddened to learn of the death of the Holy Father, Pope Francis… a man of great warmth and humility… who made use of his global prestige to highlight and to listen to the concerns of the poorest and most marginalised people across the world.”

It is especially poignant that Pope Francis passed away on Easter Monday, just a day after wishing the world a “Happy Easter.” He leaves behind a powerful legacy of faith, hope, and compassion.

🕊️ May the Risen Lord welcome him with open arms.
🕯️ *Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him.*
